Mississippi Burning
A new trial started on CTV today. It is a trial of an 80 year old man accused of the murder of three civil rights workers in Philadelphia, Miss. back in the 1960's. The three young men, two whites and one black, were murdered and buried in an earthen dam. Several months later a tip led to the discovery of the bodies. The men had been arrested for no cause and jailed for several hours. They were released late at night and drove into an ambush by a group of men (probably KKK) of which the defendant in this case was a member. The town of Meridian has been mentioned frequently as that was the base of operations for the civil rights workers. That kind of makes a chill go down my spine given that I have spent several nights in Meridian.
